There's a pretty common pattern these days
where I glance at the copyright to see when
something I'm interested in came out, and
it turns out to once again be from 2008.

What was it about 2008?

   We were just emerging
   from the "post 911 era",    I'll never forgive "the post-911
   people were thinking        era" for stealing the name of a
   wider and deeper again--    decade:                                But then,
                                                                      no one
   And then came               I wanted to call it the Naughts,       calls
   the economic crash.         but the Zeroes would've been okay.     this the
                                                                      Teens,
   We keep getting pulled                                             either.
   back to short-term
   political wrangling.

           Daniel Dennet comments that he
           resents every minute he has to
           spend on politics, with which
           I sympathize.
