  This section appears to be insisting    
  on the sole unified purpose of the      
  artwork being an appeal to the emotions.     
                                               
  But it is not difficult to think of pieces of
  "fiction" featuring exposition interesting in it's
  own right, where it is not immediately clear what
  emotional affect, if any, is produced.  The lecture
  on Napoleon's tactics in "War and Peace", the
  description of space suit technology in "Have Space
  Suit Will Travel", the details about whaling
  techniques in "Moby Dick", or the philosophy of "The
  True Knowledge" presented in "Cassini Division"...
