  Bakuman is a manga about a couple 
  of kids who are determined to        
  become successful manga creators.  
  That's it: there are no fantastic   
  elements (outside of the fact that   
  they have girlfriends).               
                                                META-GENRE

     Bakuman is entirely about
     the creative process:

         Trying to balance between what you care
         about and what the audience is likely to
         like, second-guessing yourself, and
         worrying that you're going to sabotage
         yourself with second-guessing...
                                                          
         The main characters deeply understand that they are     
         not geniuses, and that their strategies have     
         to accomodate this: they need to work hard at what      
         they do, and they're willing to compromise with
