I get the general feeling that the work
I've been doing writing about "the Middle
East" and so on is a waste of time...

   I'm covering issues covered
   already by other people.

Almost anything I want to say about
this, I can find said out there, if
I search hard enough.

And I'm under no delusion about
being a "high profile" personage
or some such -- it hardly
matters if I have Taken A Stand
on some issue or another.

If I'm not saying something
that other people aren't            The hope: I'm laying
saying, why bother?                 ground work for a
                                    move in an unusual
                                    direction, that hasn't
                                    become apparent yet.

                                       At present I'm
                                       playing catch-up,
                                       but I won't be
                                       for too much longer.
