CONTRADICTIONS

   When other people contradict themselves,
   I complain about it bitterly.

   When I contradict myself, it shows an
   openminded willingness to consider
   alternatives.

   There's no contradiction here, however,
   because typically when I complain about
   a contradiction, what I'm really complaining
   about is an unacknowledged contradiction.

      There are at least some cases
      where that's not true and the
      thing I'm complaining about is
      a pose of being reasonable,
      a pretense at considering all
      sides without really doing it--

      Or worse, those cases when the
      author just seems wishy-washy,
      refusing to take a stand.

           But then, I often complain about
           myself being wishy-washy, too,
           so maybe I have this covered.
           But I'm not sure.
