CORRUPTING_VISION

                                             February 07, 2012

I sometimes wonder about the corrupting
influence of video on musical taste: can
you ever sort out if you like it for the
music or for the positive associations Certainly there are examples
with some film or video that you liked? where I've gotten used to
a piece of music I originally
                                                 didn't like very much,
                                                 through the magic of series
                                                 theme repetition.
      Could it be that soundtrack
music is simply well-crafted Yoko Kanno's "Tank",
to wear well with repetition? comes to mind: the
                                                     "Cowboy Beebop" theme.

                                                     Perhaps an even better
                                                     example is Cheiko Kawabi:
                                                     would I have listened to
                                                     her twice were it not
                                                     for the "Ouran Host Club"?

                                                     Would her "Candy Baby"
                                                     be one of my favorite
                                                     pieces of pop music were
it not for that video on
                                                     the net?
