Some relatively simple thoughts I've
started to write down many times:


    Different countries, different cultures
    can use each other as a distorting mirror:
                                                    POTENTIAL_DIFFERENCE
        They continually trade back-and-forth
        imperfect images of each other, and
        react to these imperfect notions of what
        the other is about, sometimes choosing
        to imitate something that isn't quite
        there, sometimes choosing to avoid a
        horrible condition that the other
        may-or-may-not really have fallen into.

                          The eternal other...



Better heterophilia
than homophobia: the
exotic defended:

   HETEROPHILIA


                                A case I've thought about
                                much of late is US/Japan:

                                           A_DREAM_OF_JAPAN
               OTAKU_YAKI
                                           BASE_OTAKU



     A love of kitsch, for
     example, japanese pop
     culture:
