HOOK

                                              April 28, 2000

There's a couple who's just
met out on the dance floor.

My eyes -- probably all eyes --
are surreptitiously following them.

His success with women is legendary.
It probably doesn't hurt that
he's a 6ft plus eurotrash moose,
but that's not the whole story...

She's probably technically the prettiest
woman at the party, though she's dressed (Succumbed to the Stanford
down in an interesting way. scene's puritanism?
Or just wants to be taken
They're just dancing facing each seriously? Let's give her
other, as is the custom. credit for the later.
No body contact. Big-breasted blond women
                                               have to work at this.)
Then suddenly he stops, and
abruptly turns away from her.
He just starts to walk off
the dance floor. Has he
given up on her for some reason?

But he's walking on the beat--

And a dozen paces away, he
suddenly turns again,
dances again, and moves
back towards her. The
movement away retroactively
becomes part of the dance.

Now *that* is what I call
                                    "driving the hook in."
