INEVITABLE_ACCIDENTS

                                             July 14, 2013

   There's something peculiar with
the way we talk about "car accidents".

   It automatically lets everyone
   involved off the hook, it
eliminates all responsiblity. There are 40k+ car deaths
                                            in the United States
Accidents will happen. every year, and this is an
                                            inevitable consequence of
                                            decisions we've made to
rely on cars as a main mode
   So, where possible of transportation.
   I use terms like
"crash" or There is nothing unpredictable
"collision" or about it, it is not something
"death" in the that we have no choice about.
   cases where
   everyone else
inevitably says This is not an original
"accident". thought with me, of course.
                                It's a common observation
                                among bike/transit activists.
