MYSTERIOUS_RESONANCE

  There are times when an element of
  a piece of fiction seems to resonate         I could use some
  in an odd way, often without it being        new critical
  clear exactly why.                           cliches I think.
                                               Resonate no longer
  It may be a phrase, or a plot                resonates as it
  point, or a description...                   once did.

  I like to pretend I *understand*
  fiction and how it works, but there are
  occasional little things that don't         But then, really there
  quite fit my preconceptions, where I        are many things like
  can't quite tell you what works about       that, e.g. the issue
  them.                                       of "touch" in humor.
                                              Why is an overreaction
                                              amusing in once case,
                                              and forced in another?
