   I particuarly like Pinker's closing tirade
   where he blames everything he doesn't like--
   e.g. modern architecture and modern art-- on
   the "blank slate" doctrine.

   "By denying the human sense of visual beauty in
   painting and sculpture, of melody in music, of
   meter and rhyme in poetry, of plot and narrative
   and character in fiction, the elite arts wrote      If Literary literature
   off the vast majority of their audience ... "       is missing something,
      --p. 53, , "Science at the Edge"                 it would not seem to be
                                                       character or narrative.
      And no one really cares about that           
      noisy rock n' roll stuff, let alone                I guess you might say
      that awful un-melodic hip-hop.                     that it goes light on
      It's just for them elitists.                       "plot".

      As opposed to fans horror movies, who
      can't seem to get enough.

      (And fans of murder mysteries and comic
      books and gangsta rap and S&M porn...)
