Most of us have heard of specialization, and it's a
pretty familiar experience for someone like me to work
in a company where I'm doing software, and other people
are doing other tasks like accounting and marketing.
Yes, the intelligence of the company is distibuted
throughout the company.  So?


It's the sort of thing that might come as a revelation
to a psychologist doing "cognitive science" experiments
on individuals.

The virtue of a slogan like this is not that
it captures some great discovery never known to
humanity, but that it rephrases a piece of common
wisdom in a fruitful way, it nudges the mind in
in different directions that an older, more familiar
phrasing might not.

     Technical jargon considered as a kind of poetry.
