   Faced with the legal lock-down
   of our shared culture-- the
   attempt to stake out everything
   as "intellectual property"--
   my personal reaction is to just
   look back in time for source
   material, to look at the pre-
   mouse era.

   It's interesting to think about
   what might happen if everyone reacts           And as it happens, I'm
   in a similar way: if the sample-artists        interested in popular
   all start working over 78s, if the             art from this period,
   graphic artists work with clip-art             so this is no hardship
   from old turn-of-the-century                   for me...
   newspaper ads, and so on.

       Betty Boop shall
       rise again.




           This is perhaps what
           Alan Moore was thinking
           with his League...
