Actually, Dreyfus and Kelly claim they are not being
prescriptive, and they avoid using the word "should":

"Are we saying that everyone *ought* to
live a polytheistic life? No. Ours is
not a moralistic claim, but a claim
about what the gods are calling us to
do. It is a natural temptation to ask
why one *should* hear the call, or why
one *should* heed it if it makes itself
   heard. But these moralizing
tempatations must be avoided." Yup, that must be
                                                 avoided. Because
                                                 that would be, you
                                                 know, like, bad.

                                                    You shouldn't
                                                    say should.

"There is no *reason* why one ought
to hear or respond to the call of
the gods: callings just demand to be
heard and obeyed." -- p.221 Hey, you don't have
to do it on my account.
                                                 It's just demanded that
So, they're not you obey. By The Gods,
telling you how to you know. But there's
live. But if no imperative here.
       there's a plurality No double-talk, either.
       of good ways to
       live, aren't we
       back at what they
       call "nihilism"?
