Is it at all interesting
to think about how *low*
the standards get for
something like a James
Bond film?

It would be easy to spend pages
complaining about impossibilities
and absurdities, but it seems
inane and besides the point.

It's a Bond flick.

It would be an interesting project to
track the New York Times reviews
of James Bond films over the years.

Without looking, I guarantee that the
early ones will be negative, full of            I once read one about the
snooty complaints about popular trash and       Hepburn/Grant film "Charade",
the imminent end of western civilization.       overwhelmed with contempt at
                                                the callousness of flirtatious
And the later reviews will praise them          giggling with corpses dropping
with a warm glow of nostaligia, embracing       left and right.
the trash, sucking up to the popular...
and perhaps proving the original point.
