Okay, if you ask people why they
   drive so much, they'll mention
stuff like speed and convenience-- They also mention that
                                            public transit's service
But if you keep them talking, it sucks, though of course a
gets clear that a lot of it has lot of that has to do
to do with a desire for privacy, with the fact that so few
a desire to control who they of them are using it.
have to deal with throughout the
day. Could it be that a reasonable
                                             government would find some way
Everyone seems to have a to fix this chicken-and-egg
story about some nutjob problem by fiat?
        sitting near them on the
train or the bus. Maybe by jacking gas taxes?

                                                (But what do those
                                                guys in Europe know
                                                about anything?)
So, why not take this principle
   to it's logical conclusion?

We can learn from the field of
   container shipping and apply
   it to human transit, packing
   everyone into standardized
   capsules that can easily be
   shunted around by automatic
   machinery.

   And in the-- uh-- unlikely
   event that someone needs to
be put in a wheelchair, that
   gets very simple to arrange.
