When I was a kid, I would try to tell
people I was from Brooklyn, but they
wouldn't believe me.
   
My family is from the midwest,       
so I essentially sound like a           
TV announcer.                 
                                    
There are a few odd touches
to my pronunciation though.

Often instead of "I'm going to", close
listening will reveal that I've said
something more like "Ahm ah gunna",
but I couldn't tell you if that's the
influence of the midwest, or of
Westerns, of which my older brothers
were fond.

Every so often I come up with some
traces of a Brooklyn/Long Island        By the way: pronouncing Long
crudity or two...                       Island as "Long Guyland" is
                                        more of a Jersyism.
   I don't think I go as
   far as "heah" for                      On the Island, one
   "here", though.                        just says "The Island".

      Dangerbaby seems to think
      there's something funny
      about the way I say words
      like "croissant", though.
