  Heinlein had a theory -- based
  on his own experience -- that
  there was a correlation between
  choosing to become a writer and
  poor physical health.

  The point being, that if you're
  smart enough to write, you're
  smart enough to do other things
  that are arguably more important,
  and most likely better paid.

  So possibly writers need reasons
  that they were blocked from doing
  such things...
