Hmmm I just checked on the spec website and using a standard fortran 77
and fortran 90 compiler the 21264 525Mhz hits a specfp95 of 45, I
seriously doubt the 600Mhz K7 will touch it considering its (as of yet
unoptimized) base score of 21.

Uhhh what benchmarks? Give me specifics. I know that the integer
capabilities of the Athlon are indeed wonderul.

I cant seem to find any info on that page about what you are talking
about....I guess my German isn't very good. The cost of a dual 500Mhz
system with

    2 21264 500 MHz CPUs
    4MB Cache per CPU
    6 PCI/1 ISA, 2 Serial/1 Parallel
512MB of SDRAM (up to 4 GB maximum)
Full-size Chassis with 10 drive bays or 8u Rack Mount
    630 Watt Power Supply
9.1 GB Ultra2 Wide SCSI Drive (7200 RPM)
    and ITI 6100 Ultra2 SCSI Controller 80 MB/sec
    10/100 PCI Ethernet
ELSA GLoria Synergy 8MB Graphics Accelerater
    40X IDE CD-ROM Drive
1.44 MB Floppy Drive, Keytronics Keyboard and Logitech 3-button PS/2
Windows NT Workstation (CD) or Red Hat Linux (CD) (configured for
two processors) Also available with Compaq Tru64 UNIX

    $13,500 including 19" mon.

This might seem expensive to the layman but to me its a super cheap
mainframe or render engine (or good for the occasional Gaussian or
Nastran sim) considering that a 16 R12k processsor SGI Orgin 2000
probably costs over a million bucks and scores close the the same in
this bench. You could actually sell CPU time to people with a machine
like that (or 2 heh).

By the way the Alpha's 21264 version is already hitting 667Mhz now :o)
