Hi Chuck,

What you could do is uncomment theTaskBarAutoHide in your
/etc/X11/AnotherLevel/fvwm2rc.modules.m4, it's under the section TaskBar. :-)

Hope that helps

I'm assuming that you named the file .fvwm2rc.m4 rather than fvwm2rc.m4 since
.fvwm2rc.m4 is what's probably specified in ~/.Xclients.

Whether or not that's the case, I'd suggest editing your

/etc/X11/fvwm2/system.fvwm2rc

and/or

/etc/X11/fvwm/system.fvwmrc

to replace the line

Style "*" RandomPlacement

(line 70 in my copy)

with

Style "*" ActivePlacement

There's probably a line like

Style "*" SmartPlacement, RandomPlacement

in your .fvwm2rc file. Changing it to

Style "*" ActivePlacement

would be my guess. (Or instead of * you could specify the
apps you wanted to place manually.)

Don't worry about that. First, upgrade to a recent version of WindowMaker
- 0.50.x or later. Then make sure your version of wmconfig is at least
the version that came with RH 5.2. Why?

Well, Red Hat use wmconfig to create a standard set of menus that appear
no matter which window manager you use (as long as it's packaged for Red
Hat) and which automatically update as you add packages. This can be
really annoying - it really messes up AfterStep, for instance - because it
overwrites the window manager's own menus and means you have to create
menus the wmconfig way rather than the way your window manager provides.
The WindowMaker developers, though, have come up with the best way to use
wmconfig that I've seen: they have on their menu a Programs submenu that
calls wmconfig directly to create the Red Hat specific menus. This lets
you benefit from the wmconfig system but at the same time use the
excellent WindowMaker config tools to create your own menus.

For this you need at least wmconfig 0.6-1
