Now, if you could click on the banner itslef - it may take a moment to load is all - it's 468x60 in size, and should come up right next to the little acorn. On the right hand side. The Acorn works :-), the Banner to the right of it doesn't. and I can't figure why. It's driving me nuts. The banner actually loads, but clicking on the banner produces only the error page... no jump to the banners url/site. The weather here is great. I'm right by the beach - it's 30+ Celcius outside right now, and I'm asking myself why I'm doing this. :-) Yup, I've done that water swirling experiment - even our cyclones go the other way - neat huh :-) Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. cheers Robert -- http://www.chalmers.com.au Clipart And Books Art, Design and Graphics. I looked at your document source. You are running Java. * bites tongue * I turned on Java which I always keep turned off as most internet users do these days for security and safety. With Java turned on, yes, an error page. I noted your graphic for the click through does not load, just a 'broken picture icon'. I know little about Java and have no desire to learn. So, a guess for you. This broken picture, what would normally be a long banner ad with your acorn just to the right, this picture is requirement for you click through to work. Without it loading, * guessing * your java is messing up and not providing a correct URL address.... quick note: with a broken picture, I get your error message. oh brother.. Robert, I tried something different this time during the course of typing this note. I went back to your site, went to the URL where your picture is stored and forced it load. Returned to your opening page, your banner loaded ok, I clicked on it and received a message: Sorry, but what you are looking for doesn't appear to be here ... Standard file not found type of message. Off hand, I would say your banner click through is working ok but, your redirect page, your second page is missing, or your URL click address is getting messed up during processing. From a PERL point of view, I did note your click address looks like this: http://www.chalmers.com.au/webadverts/ads.pl?member=rbs;banner=NonSSI;page=809 All looks pretty standard save for semi-colon delimiters ; Most often, but not always, an ampersand & is used there. Still, almost any symbol can be used if your PERL script is expecting it, such as ; in this case. What I would suggest, which may not be worth anything, is to check your second page (click page) address, be sure it matches up with what your script is using for an output. Otherwords, your script writes the exact same URL as the URL for your click through page. If you are skilled in PERL, a last resort would be to generate your opening page with your cgi script and eliminate all Java. This would take some work however. Just don't know cuz these people wouldn't offer this script if it didn't work right.. I will open up this script tomorrow and have a look, maybe something is there which I will spot. I'll post if I find anything. In closing Robert, there is one comment I would make, something for you to think about and clearly demonstrated tonight, or today for you. If a visitor does not have Java turned on, which is very common these days, your page is going to fail, consistently. Java is an absolute requirement for your page to work. Trying to be polite here, any program, any Java which does not make allowances for a non-java enabled browser, is a poorly planned program and not a good program to use. It turns away visitors right and left. Think on this.
