There are such servers included with Red Hat in the RedHat/RPMS
directory
of the CD. /usr/sbin/ipop3d and imapd are the servers.
Both installed by the imap rpm. These can be enabled/disabled by
commenting the imap or pop lines in /etc/inetd.conf, through use of
/etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny, and also using ipchains calls.

In the past there have been many security exploits for imap, and who
knows,
there could be more in the future. So, many people feel it is a bad
idea to enable access to imapd outside your local trusted networks.

Cheers,
Jan
