On this subject, I've always been curious why someone hasn't
written something to get the info from common/popular OSs
like win95/98 at install time, so installs could be made
idiot proof for newbies. I'm sure this info is available via
the registry.

The install process would start in win95, fine all devices
and configuration info, reboot and auto configure everything
for you.

yeah, i know - go write it then.
