You may want to test your memory modules. Search for memtest86 on freshmeat. === Subject: Re: Is this a hardware or software problem? I'd use memtest which I've used to check the memory and is easy to use. I've had this problem and it was memory. I bought dodgy memory and was told by a pc engineer if it is dodgy it takes 6 months to fail. Hope this helps-not very good news. NH === Subject: Re: Is this a hardware or software problem? From: Rahim Valiani <rvaliani@mindspring.com> Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2000 08:17:25 -0800 (PST) I had the same problem onmy desktop unit, and then I replaced by video card, and the problem went away. It seems that the xserver my virge card utilized had some problems. i am now using the x server for the riva tnt chipset with no problems. ===
