Move your domains to Domain Discover (or almost any other com/org/net registrar), and they'll even give you credit for the remaining months of your current registrations. I've had it with Network Solutions. Long ago, in fact. And _boy_ did it feel good to leave. === Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 23:17:13 -0800 From: Jacob Hunter <jacob@netline.com> To: svlug@lists.svlug.org Subject: Re: [svlug] networksolutions I agree with rick... i use register.com and opensrs (for my lug's domains). Register.com is great and is a NSI affiliate. They offer a nice web interface for changing things, and for registering new domains... Opensrs is good if you're registering lots of domains because they give you a discount. I believe VA uses them. NSI make things more difficult. Standard (NSI) doesnt isnt always synonymous with best. === Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 22:57:50 -0800 To: Rick Moen <rick@linuxmafia.com>, svlug@svlug.org From: "Derek J. That's mighty white of them. Since they're required to do that. If you pay for 5 years @ NSI, and move to OpenSRS, your domain is still registered for five years (although after you pay the mandatory 1-year-fee incumbent with a registrar change, it'll be valid for then 6 years). If a registrar DOESN'T "keep your paid-for time", then don't go there, they're violating ICANN policy.[1]. D [1] And it is important to note for the observers, that, in fact, NSI violates the policy there. If you have $X years left on your domain @ $SOME_OTHER_REGISTRAR, and move it to NSI, after paying the 1-year-xfer-fee, you will have "1 year remaining" on your domain. This was discussed on the OpenSRS resellers list some time back. === Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 23:00:56 -0800 From: Rick Moen <rick@linuxmafia.com> To: svlug@svlug.org Subject: Re: [svlug] networksolutions begin Derek J. Why am I now surprised? ===
