Subject: RH 6.2 Netscape From: Vidiot <brown@mrvideo.vidiot.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 16:42:35 -0500 (CDT) OK, something else just happened. I started Netscape, and with the upgrade to 6.2, it asked to accept the license and proceeded to bring up version 4.7.2. After I rebooted, because of changing Lilo to see all of my RAM, restarting Netscape brought up the license screen again, but now it was back to version 4.7. Doing a "rpm -q netscape" says that netscape is not installed, which is definately incorrect. 1. What happened to version 4.7.2 2. rpm says that netscape-communicator-4.72-6 is installed, but the about box says that it is only 4.7. Sigh. === Subject: Re: RH 6.2 Netscape From: Bret Hughes <bhughes@elevating.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 17:33:53 -0500 Vidiot wrote: > OK, something else just happened. > > I started Netscape, and with the upgrade to 6.2, it asked to accept the > license and proceeded to bring up version 4.7.2. > > After I rebooted, because of changing Lilo to see all of my RAM, restarting > Netscape brought up the license screen again, but now it was back to > version 4.7. > > Doing a "rpm -q netscape" says that netscape is not installed, which is > definately incorrect. > > 1. I never have looked at the script that launches it. BTW my about box (which is really a htmlpage) shows quite plainly Communicator 4.73. hmmm I guess I should upgrade, (rpms at the office already ) What does rpm -qa|grep navigator show? any stray rpms in there? What about netscape -verison from the command line? === Subject: Re: RH 6.2 Netscape From: Isaiah Weiner <iweiner@redhat.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 19:51:31 -0400 Doing a "rpm -q netscape" says that netscape is not installed, which is > definately incorrect. Your command line is definitely incorrect, too. Try: rpm -qa | grep netscape You should have netscape-common, netscape-communicator, and maybe even netscape-navigator. If you do have netscape-navigator in addition to netscape-communicator, check the program to which your launcher points. === Subject: Re: RH 6.2 Netscape From: Statux <statux@bigfoot.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 22:23:27 -0400 (EDT) On Sun, 27 Aug 2000, Vidiot wrote: > OK, something else just happened. > > 1. What about $ rpm -qf `which netscape` mine found the right package: netscape-common-4.73-1 Not a explaintion but I would probably go ahead and upgrade to the latest (4.75 I think) and see what happens. You might try to verify the packages too. and see if anything falls out. === Subject: Re: RH 6.2 Netscape From: John Aldrich <john@chattanooga.net> Date: Mon, 28 Aug 2000 11:27:56 -0400 On Mon, 28 Aug 2000, Vidiot wrote: > Bret posted: > > >Not sure but is it possible to have both the navigator and communicator RPMs > >installed? maybe the wrong one is getting executed.
