Alan, you might want to contact sales at Red Hat. At least with all
past releases those who had purchased the "current" distribution within
a 2 month period before the release were entitled to a discounted or
free price on the new release.

a. Take a look at <http://www.redhat.com/products/software/linux/>
you'll see the update program there, _finally_!

b. Basic distro: $29.95
    Deluxe distro: $79.95
    Server distro: $179.95
    Oracle distro:	$2500.00
    High Availability:	$1995.00
    Update service: $19.95

Ever tried to download _any_ MS distro for free??? Or updates for same?
Or go to Cheapbytes and get an upgrade copy for $5.00? Won't happen.
With the exception of the services, which can be purchased separately,
or things like Oracle, it's all available for free. The only problem
with free is you pay for it by investing time. Hence the new RH
Network,
where you pay for auto update services and let them do the chasing.

Personally, I would look at what the real differences are, and purchase
whatever meets my needs. In your case, I'd contact sales about the
past practice of free/cheap upgrades for recent purchasers, and work
up from there.

I'm already dealing with the SWS issue, and according to technical
pre-sales, SWS is now included in EVERY version of RH7. The RPM comes with
every level.
