RH 7.0 decided to use LILO in GUI mode. Unfortunately, there's no
obvious way for tweakers like me to slip in different boot parameters
on irregular occasions (e.g., single user mode to repair something
before going multiuser). So I commented the "message=/boot/message"
line out of lilo.conf.

Of course, the GUI mode may be desirable if you want to insulate
crafty (or clumsy) users from potential forks in the road. For me,
it was a nuisance.

Just get ftp://brun.dyndns.org/pub/linux/lilo/lilo-21.6.tar.gz

Instant relief.
