The /usr/X11/lib/modules/fonts directory was not installed. I also went to matrox and downloaded their drivers and Powerdesk program for configuring Xfree86. This is awesome, it's a wall of monitors! OK, so it's only two, but this gives me 3200x1200 resolution! ===
