Supporting different memory sizes, types on different chipsets ... I have been personally asked about upgrading memory almost a half-dozen times in the last week alone, both in person and via E-mail. Plus I've seen a couple posts on different lists usually asking the same questions. As such, I'd like to offer the following post I recently made that tries to explain much of what I know: http://www.zepa.net/hypermail/elug/hardware/2001/01/0021.html Of most "noteworthyness" is the table about half-way through the post. It breaks down the various "issues" with >128MB DIMMs (note the very important _differences_ between Intel and non-Intel chipsets), registered/unregistered, proprietary/vendor, etc... Note it is NOT just a simple matter of PC66/100/133 anymore. I hope this helps other people who have been considering memory upgrades, had issues with memory upgrades (especially to 256MB+ module sizes), etc... Sorry for blasting all the lists, but I thought this was something that a lot of people would be interested in reading. ===
