technically the dot "." means the root domain. hence
www.gothcon.com. and www.gothcon.com are point to the
same ip address. however www.gothcon.com's server uses
name base virtual hosting so sending www.gothcon.com.
to the server will confuse it and returns the server's
default page (which is gothcon.com's ISP home page in this
case (http://server1.pixeled.net)).
