Can you play 16bit audio fine elsewhere? Try the console version of
mpg123, for instance.

Did you try down-sampling? Try 1:2 and 1:4..

MPG123 and KMPG work fine. It's *just* xmms. I've emailed them and

Are you using the right output module? one of them is bad.. I think it's
ESD or whatever.. make sure it's on OSS... or if it's on that one.. try
ESD. ESD causes static for me.. but OSS is fine :)

Interesting. It appears that the DEFAULT output plugin is the
diskwriter plugin. :-) Looks like that was the problem, alright! :-)

Well you shouldn't have gotten any output with that thing.. that writes
.wav files ;)
