ILYA
Ilya Zakharevich, an old perl-porter, and author of
emacs cperl-mode, was interviewed in 2000:
"Ilya Regularly Expresses":
http://www.perl.com/pub/2000/09/ilya.html
Suprisingly, he complained of "the lack of a
lot of key text-processing ingredients" in
perl:
"I wrote a (heuristic-driven) Perlish syntax parser
and transformer in Emacs Lisp, and though Perl as a
language is incomparably friendlier than Lisps, I (Thankfully,
would not be even able of thinking about rewriting this did not
this tool in Perl ..." scare off the
authors of PPI.)
