ARE_YOU_OKAY

Everyone seems to have this one universal
impulse when they see a bicycle hit the ground:
On Monday night, June 3rd, I once again heard
the immortal line "Are you okay?!"
In this case, I was carrying a large cup of frozen
yogurt and walking my bike, heading toward the
Sunnyvale train station. Once I was across the
street, I decided to get on my bike to roll the
last 1000 feet or so (as I'd done a number of times
before). I stepped inside the door of the Sunnyvale
caltrain parking garage, and this time, unlike every
other time, I completely flubbed getting up on my
bike with froyo in one hand-- this had never seemed
like a tricky maneuver to me, but apparently if I don't
have at least slight contact with the handlebars on
*both* sides, the bike is actually pretty unstable--
I completely flailed, and flopped over to the right,
crashing down on to the ground, still with a forward
velocity of zero. I dumped about half of the fruit topping
on the yogurt, but kept the container right side up.
I noted later that I'd scraped an elbow, and banged up a shin.
I responded: "Sure, except for my brain."
