ASSUME_GOOD_FAITH

                                             July 8, 2009

One of the standard principles wikipedians
are supposed to use in dealing with each
other is to "assume good faith".

Think about that for a second.

If there were money involved,
would you assume good faith?

If someone were running for political
office, would you assume good faith?

If you were doing anything at all of
   any importance, would you figure
that "trust everyone" was the right
   approach?

By all means, you should *act* in good faith.

But don't trust anyone who tells you you're
supposed to "assume good faith". STANDARDS_OF_PROOF

One possible way of taking it:
the advice might be that you
should always act as though you
                were assuming good faith, even
though no one in their right MASKS
                mind actually would do so.
