CONTAMINATED_PHRASES

                                                             January 17, 2025

I was just thinking about the "deep state" phrase,
and how it entered The Discourse in discussions of DEEP_STATE
Middle East politics (it evidently comes out of
Turkey in the 1950s) and how it was grabbed by the
right wing for use in various conspiracy stories to
the point where it can't be used now without
sounding like one of Those Guys.

This is a common theme with me of late-- most people
don't want to sound like one of the bad guys on the other
side, not even a little bit-- but if you don't want
to sound like them, then they can manipulate what
you're allowed to say by anticipating any accusation
and making it first.

There are ways they can poison the well with their own messaging.

You're not allowed to say anything that makes you sound like one of those guys.

And those guys always accuse the other side of whatever they're doing.

So you're not allowed to say anything about what they're doing.

                                             (Aug 12, 2025)

Perhaps I should start distingushing between
    "conspiracy theories" and "conspiracy stories".

        And "conspiracy delusions"?

                                                (And when did the phrase
                                                "the discourse" enter
                                                the discourse, anyway?)
