Interestingly, there are some places where
Amory Lovins plays up his lack of conventional
background and adopts an outsider stance.

If you look at the first of the multiple "Downloadable"
Amory Lovins bios up at the Rocky Mountain Institute
site (he has a half-dozen or so bios out there of          http://www.rmi.org/Amory+Lovins+Downloadable+Bios
different shapes and flavors), he states that:

  o  he's "A Harvard and Oxford dropout"

  o  "He has held visiting posts at ten universities
     ranging from Peking to Stanford, teaching only
     subjects he’s never formally studied."
