I'm not someone who just enjoys
fiction, I'm someone who cares And yet, I've written
about it, who believes in it. very little of it,
and none in recent years.
I'm regularly offended
by people who downplay
the importance of But isn't it possible
fiction: it's "just that this fiction about WORLDS_END
entertainment"; "mere fiction, might have some
escape"... utility of it's own.
That myth of irrelevance
might be critical for it
to do what it does.

about a world where
fiction is the state
religion... a land where
a downer ending is a
crime against society.
Where psychologists
debate the harm of
violent fiction; where
people regard a story
about rape as a crime
almost as bad as rape;
where...
