  Beat Generation,

     a sense of being beaten down,
     raw, reduced to the bedrock consciousness

     and thus authentic, open to the world,

          ready to rebuild, reinvent?

  Being Beat is a "religion of slaves", much like
  Nietzsche said of Christianity: it's a doctrine
  that praises the low-down, the meek, and
  because of that it's literally a popular doctrine.

    The low like being told it's okay to be low.

    The lazy like being told it's okay to be lazy.


        Nietzsche again: to reach the overman
        one must first go under.

           (Not so far off from a Christian virtue?)

            camels and the eye of the needle.
