  There's a somewhat silly              LOOKING_FOR_JOAN_VOLLMER
  movie out there where
  Courtney Love, of all
  people, plays Joan Vollmer
  at the end of her life.             (Funny: they forgot
                                      the polio-limp.)
  There's a small detail
  in it that I like quite
  a bit, though:

    Joan is sitting by herself working
    on a page of type-written material,
    when her friends enter the room --        JOAN_WORTHY
    Allen Ginsberg and Lucien Carr have
    just arrived.  She rises to great
    them enthusiastically...  and puts
    the page down on the desk, placing
    it face down.
