   The N.I.H. Syndrome itself
   pops up in many places.

   I remember reading an astronaut
   (I think, Michael Collins)             The given example was the
   complaining about how the Gemini       problem with "gyro-lock",
   project was supposed to be the         a limitation on
   warm-up for Apollo, but the            maneuvering when the
   Apollo team had no interest in         gyroscopes were nearing
   how things were done on Gemini.        their extreme of allowed
                                          motion.  The Gemini
                                          solution was an
                                          additional gyro, the
                                          Apollo solution was to
                                          ignore it and let the
                                          pilots worry about it.
