There's something peculiar with
the way we talk about "car accidents".
It automatically lets everyone
involved off the hook, it
eliminates all responsiblity. There are 40k+ car deaths
in the United States
Accidents will happen. every year, and this is an
inevitable consequence of
decisions we've made to
rely on cars as a main mode
So, where possible of transportation.
I use terms like
"crash" or There is nothing unpredictable
"collision" or about it, it is not something
"death" in the that we have no choice about.
cases where
everyone else
inevitably says This is not an original
"accident". thought with me, of course.
It's a common observation
among bike/transit activists.
