There were some guys who used to do panel discussions
at Kraken Con in Oakland, exploring what they thought
of as "the hip-hop nerd connection".

This was a group of black/latino guys who had
grown up in the Bay Area, and had to deal with
a certain amount of crap from being interested
in things like anime when everyone knows guys
like themselves are supposed to be low-brow tough guys.
