  What is Macross?

  Well, it's a label attached to
  a series of japanese anime shows              The back story on how
  that all take place in the same               the creators chose the
  universe...                                   name is similarly
                                                unilluminating:
  Okay. So what does Macross
  mean within that universe?                       CLASSIC_NAMES

  Well, it was the name of a
  spaceship, in "Superdimesional
  Fortress".  And the name of the
  cannon the ship was armed with.


  So, in Macross 7, where there's a
  similar giant battleship, that's
  what it refers to?  Well, no:
  there they call that "Battle 7" as
  opposed to "City 7" and all the
  other ships in what they're now
  calling the "Macross 7 fleet".

  In "Macross Plus" it appears to
  be the name of a company or a
  research group...                  (check that
                                     some time).
