To take this a little further:

Is beauty external, is it just
a matter of sensation?

Or is there a component of beauty
that has to do with understanding
what you're looking at, thinking
about the implications of what
you see?

The heat distortion from the
exhaust puffing out of a car's
tail pipe can make some cool 
twisted images.
                                                  
   Many would call it ugly,                    Both types of beauty    
   because they know it's                      can be in sync.      
   poisonous.                                  Trees both clean    
                                               the air and decorate
                    Even worse though:         the landscape.          
		    we've been subjected       
                    huge amounts of                   An uncontroversial
                    propaganda to the                 beauty.               
                    effect that cars are              
                    sexy symbols of power                    
		    and adulthood...       
                                            
		             Rave about the beauty 
		             of car exhaust and you
                             run into the hype     
		             filters.                 
                                                   
   
   And there's still      
   another kind of beauty, 
   where you appreciate   
   the sad contrast       
   between the way it     
   looks and what it is... 
                       

      And then there's still 
      another: You can       
      appreciate the appeal  
      of the ambiguous.  Some
      things can be awe      
      inspiring, without     
      there being any way to 
      tell if they're good or
      bad.  There's the sense
      of something being     
      "beyond good and evil".
                             
                             
          And once again what I'm talking about here         
          is the connections (and barriers) between 
          the esthetic and the ethical.
