The sounds that come out of the
improv scene just aren't that
far beyond the reach of the
masses.

We're living in a time that's
post-Jimi Hendrix, post-Who,
post-Public Enemy...

Noise is all around us, and maybe
it's not so remarkable when one
person gets it. The weird thing
is that not everyone does....

                 From MIXING :

"... an appreciation of noise (as
opposed to music) is a ubiquitous part
                  of modern culture. We're quite
accustomed to listening to mixtures of
noise and music, for example in movie
                  sound tracks."

    Eugene Chadbourne makes
    the point that people
    often happily sit through
    movie soundtracks that use
    "weird" music that they
    run from in other contexts.

    E.g. consider the atonal,
    arrhythmic symphonic music
    of the horror movies.
