     Well, yes: "The truth is that the modern GOP is
     deeply anti-intellectual", but there are a lot
     of reasons the left should not be patting
     themselves on the back about being "the reality
     based community".

     I don't want to indulge in "false equivalence"
     here, because the problem genuinely has been
     astoundingly bad on the Right in recent decades
     (economics, the iraq war, global warming).

     Still, there are some critically important
     subjects where you'll find people who are not
     on the right indulging in the same sort of
     denial of evidence when it contradicts long-held
     belief.

     Just look at what happens if someone publishes
     a study that eating "organic" doesn't seem to
     have any measureable health benefits.

     Or look at the panic in some circles about
     GMO food.

     Or take a look at nuclear power...

         Yes, Fukushima, but you know when an
         airplane crashes we figure out how to
         keep them from crashing, we don't talk
         about banning airplanes...

         And Fukushima is nothing compared to a
         year's worth of coal burning.
