  The Villagers of the early 1900
  day were not as dedicated to
  unpopular modes as artists of
  some later eras.


                 Chapin describes a cafe pianist
                 that veers between high and low           HAZE
                 as the occasion demands.

                 Chapin was enthralled with craft
                 shops, where toys and such are are
                 made on the premises.

                 Their "modern poetry" often rhymes
                 (and occasionally scans), and is           BLANK_VERSE
                 rarely as abstruse as the efforts
                 of later decades.



  They started barely out of step
  with the mainstream, it's hardly
  a suprise that some of the
  stars of this scene crossed            Jack Reed
