In "2030" (2020), Mauro GUILLEN_2030
F. Guillén, remarks on work by
Richard Florida of the
University of Toronto:
"Nowadays, the creative class accounts for about one-third
of the American workforce, a proportion expected to reach
50 percent by 2030. Creative workers 'draw on complex
bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.' Florida
summarizes what it takes for a city to develop a dynamic
creative class with his concept of 'the three T's': talent,
tolerance, and technology."
"Of the three, 'tolerance has attracted quite a bit of
attention. Florida argues that cities that score high on
what he calls the 'Gay Index' and the 'Bohemian Index'
eventually do better. He defines tolerance in terms of a
melting pot of diverse people, including members of the
LGBTQ community, artists, and musicians, among others.
More broadly, the entire creative class is associated with
a distinct lifestyle that fosters open-mindedness."
...
"His 'street-level culture refers to the 'teeming blend of cafes,
sidewalk musicians, and small galleries and bistros, where it is
hard to draw the line between participant and observer, or
between creativity and its creators.'"
I'm inclined to believe this because it's in line
with my prejudice that prejudices are bullshit,
but Guillén is too dubious a source to trust on
anything.

So, consider this a blue tab.
