OUTSIDE_PROCESS

                                                    FROM_THE_OUTSIDE

Whenever I read about the process that went into
creating the Bowie/Eno album "Outside", I find it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outside_(David_Bowie_album)
profoundly depressing. Now, I think this is an
okay record, albiet weirdly murky--

But the sheer amount of *work* they went though,
the conniptions of this crew of accomplished intelligent
people trying so *hard* to be Truly Creative--
when you look at what they actually came up with...
my god this is profoundly depressing.

I can't help but feel embarassed for them.
                                                      It makes me nervous
                                                      about trying to do
Bowie comments about painting, creative work myself.
talking about how really good artists
know *where to stop*-- it's really If people like
easy to do *too much* and damage a Bowie and Eno
painting, or to worry about doing can go this far
that and produce a work that's weaker wrong and sabotage
than it should be. themselves so badly,
                                                          what hope is there
You can say the same thing about for the rest of us?
process-- you can get too enamored
of your own genius and go overboard
          indulging it.
